Format

Texts must be double-spaced and typed with no formatting. Use a very clear title and sub-title hierarchy with a maximum of three or four levels indicated with Arabic numerals:1., 1.1., 1.1.1., 1.1.2., 1.1.3., etc.

Use only Times 11 pt.

Do not underline or use any other typographic styles.

Words or citations in Latin or foreign languages should be typed in italics.

Do not divide or hyphenate words. Do not use non-breaking spaces.

Spell out numbers less than ten. Measurements, percentages and dates must be written in Arabic numerals, centuries and millennia in Roman numerals followed by “th” in superscript: IVth millennium BC.

Please adhere to this punctuation and spacing.

Measures of length, capacity or weight must not be pluralized and are not to be followed by a period; they are to be abbreviated only if they are associated with number.

Bibliographic references

Bibliographic citations are presented in the text, in parentheses, with the author name and year of publication (Binford, 1988). Pages or figures may be included (Binford, 1988, 45, fig. 13). Use the abbreviation et al. when three or more authors are concerned, but cite all of the authors in the bibliography (Binford et al., 1988). If several references are cited, separate them with a semicolon
 Binford, 1988; Stiner, 1994).

Footnotes

To improve readability and facilitate document formatting, please limit the number of footnotes and make them as short as possible. They are to be numbered with Arabic numerals.

Bibliographic references

Publications cited in the text are presented in a list of references after the text of the manuscript. References should be arranged first alphabetically and then chronologically when there is more than one reference for a single author. Multiple references from the same author in the same year should be indicated by the letters “a”, “b”, “c” after the date of publication: (Binford, 1988a).

Iconographic guideliness

Authors must insure that their illustrations are free of copyright limitations. This review is not responsible for problems that may arise concerning this issue. Authors should pay particular attention to the composition of figures, which must be furnished in completed form. The composition should be well-distributed, with no unnecessary blank space. Simple, readable graphic scales must be included, with clear numbers and patterns whose quality is not diminished by reduction. All maps must have a scale and orientation symbol. Photographs must be of high quality, with good focus and contrast. Tables are to be numbered separately and are preferably in Illustrator or Excel format. Figure legends must be complete and precise; the author of the illustration must be indicated.

Example

Figure 3 - Lithic assemblage attributed to the Michelsberg culture discovered on the ground surface at Itzig-“Buchels”(L), after Le Brun-Ricalens in press) (C. Mascino © MNHA).

Table 3 - Dating elements associated with the blades NaCAL, La Chevêtalière à Saint-Mathurin (Vendée), after Péridy (2003, 2004, 2005). Calibration software: Calib Rev 5.0.1. (Reimer et al., 2004).

- One document (RTF format) with the figure and the tables legends;
- One file with the illustrations in the required formats: give each document the name of its figure number.
